Democrats believe that we’re greater together than we are on our own – that this country succeeds when everyone gets a fair shot, everyone does their fair share, and everyone plays by the same rules. Our party is focused on building an economy that lifts up all Americans, not just those at the top. That’s why Democrats are working to make progress on issues like job creation, equal pay, education, health care, and clean energy.
Democrats fight for a society where people come first. We stand for freedom: the freedom to cast a ballot, freedom from the fear of a pre-existing condition bankrupting you or worse, freedom to live in a community with access to good-paying jobs and good schools, and the freedom to pursue your dreams free from discrimination. This is what progress looks like.
Our vision for Wayne County is to be a place where residents live in vibrant communities they are proud to call home. Where they earn the Midwest’s highest wages, send their children to top-ranked schools, and live healthy, fulfilling lives. Our candidates will fight for common sense initiatives to educate and train citizens so they can thrive in the 21st century economy and earn a livable wage, provide for their family, and retire with dignity.
The Wayne County Democratic Party invites you to get involved! Our meetings are held monthly on the third Wednesday at 6PM in our party headquarters, 1010 South 9th Street in Richmond.
A strong community is a vibrant community. We have to ensure quality of life through green space, fair housing, and unique local amenities. Families are stronger living in communities that connect them to economic opportunities, social services, and cultural resources. We must face the epidemic of drug addiction tearing at our community through comprehensive, creative solutions.
Children are our future and providing them with top-notch education is the best way to ensure their success. Our schools should be palaces and our teachers should be prized. Teachers have to be allowed to teach our students what they need to learn – not what they need to pass a test. We need more money in education, not less. And Hoosier students should be the best and brightest in the country.
We are proud of our longstanding commitment to and support for civil rights and equality. We support making the promise of “equal protection under the law” a reality for all. We believe in equal protection for all across gender, race, sexual orientation, religion, national origin, and economic class. Equal rights. Equal opportunity. Every Hoosier. Every American. Every person. No exceptions.
We continue to applaud the sacrifices of the brave men and women who served our nation to defend and protect the principles of democracy. These military families deserve our unwavering support. It is our duty to make sure that they have the services they need in terms of healthcare, education, skill development, job placement, and anything else that they may need. It is the very least we can do.
Ethical governance is rooted in honesty, accountability, and transparency. Efficiency and simplicity are musts. Communication is key. Leadership and proper management are essential. We need leaders who will stand up and fight for citizens, who appreciate and value their employees, and who work for the good of the entire community. And we should accept nothing less.
We believe in creating an economy that grows good-paying jobs while proactively providing opportunities for workers to retrain and retool to compete for 21st century jobs. An economy that works lowers the barriers for entrepreneurs to take risks and start businesses right here. Our infrastructure needs to be sound and transportation easy. We need to continuously adapt while holding on to our rich history.
